Human marries Avatar

“On Sunday, a man named Sal9000 married the love of his life. Her name is Nene Anegasaki, and she lives inside of a Nintendo DS video game called Love Plus. The wedding took place during a Make: Japan meet-up held at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. In attendance were a live audience, an MC, the bride's virtual video game girlfriend — who made a speech — and a real human priest.” - reported first on boingboing

Thousands of Santa look-alikes "feel the burn"

http://www.siegfriedandroy.com/news/entry.php?id=200
Siegfried and Roy will host the 5th Annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run on December 5, 2009.

The Great Santa Run is an annual world-wide foot race for Santa look-alikes, but who holds the title for most Santas per capita? Liverpool won last year's competition with 7,720 Santas; this year Las Vegas will try to break that record with a targeted goal of 15,000 participants.

Versionhood will be cheering on our personal favorite ”Disco Santa” who will be working the crowds along with other entertainers.

Scientists have developed a drug targeted to erase unpleasant memories. Ethical debates ensue.

“Removing bad memories is not like removing a wart or a mole,” Daniel Sokol, lecturer in medical ethics at St George’s, University of London, says in a statement. “It will change our personal identity since who we are is linked to our memories. It may perhaps be beneficial in some cases, but before eradicating memories, we must reflect on the knock-on effects that this will have on individuals, society, and our sense of humanity.” - Daniel Sokol, St, George's University of London reported by Kelli Miller Stacy

Mileage Report

I picked Geoff up in Austin to discuss building a web project for Versionhood; Kristin filling the tank; Geoff providing background accompaniment to a stroll through New Orleans (audio clip coming soon).

While on the road, my aging laptop struggled to handle the high resolution footage I was capturing - hence the delay in posting clips.

Today, a milestone! I figured out how to embed audio and video clips directly into the Versionhood wiki. Looking forward to building up this site over the next week.

Geoff Morris will assist in programming an open Versionhood document that will include advice and quotes from persons who have versioning experiences; it will also be written by the public. We are anticipating a launch for this web project in the new year.

NOLA drag performers Anita and Rikki

Friday afternoon I met with esteemed New Orleans drag performers Anita Rich-Goodman and Rikki Redd for a drink and backstage interview at the Golden Lantern on Royal St in the French Quarter. I'll be posting a transcribed interview and video clips after I return to New York.

If you are in NOLA tonight they are both performing at Starlight By The Park on North Rampart. Show begins at midnight!
